Local Character
Local Character was a project that stemmed from my fascination with hand painted signs around the world.
On a recent trip to India, I photographed painted signs on trucks in Kerala and Karnataka and created an alphabet inspired by the these signs. The project was produced as fine art prints, each of which included a single character and the name and date I found the imagery that inspired it.
The decorative nature of each character is a lovely encapsulation of the local visual language in the Kerala and Karnataka states of India.
